Hardy Hanappi - Tango Waves: Omega and Alpha dance in the dark to the song of evolutionary political economy The microcosmos of a love and friendship of five people in London develops in parallel to the macro cosmos of the European political economy that is characterized by a shift to the extreme right. Both movements proceed in a kind of Tango waves, alternating between getting tight and letting go, between unbound hope and deep despair. It is this alternation between the description of the evolution of very personal individual feelings and a somewhat distant scientific look at what goes on politically, which rocks the text. In an appendix, called mysterious links, music and scientific papers are linked to each chapter. This book was written during a year of research in Athens. |

Those elderly people who were part of this generation will appreciate to rediscover their force. the younger ones hopefully will grasp parts of the spirit. Because the journey is not over yet. The beat goes on. Generation 68 was not a local phenomenon that only emerged in the national context of a handful of countries. It was a truly global, cultural rebellion. To make it happen a sufficiently developed communication technology in a sufficiently large number of countries had to be established. Once it took off, this rebellion changed the global culture in a profound and lasting way. This book takes you on a journey through 17 major topics characterising generation 68 - from music via hair, sex and drugs to politics. Each chapter is short, dense and self-contained. One could read it on the beach or late at night in bed. It is a leisure read. |
